What Darien houses need
Darien has been rebuilding itself for two decades. A lot of what looks like a straightforward colonial from the street, especially through Ox Ridge and Noroton, is a recent build with three gables, two dormers, a bumped out entry, and a garage wing. That is a great looking house lit up, and it is more linear feet than most people guess. A 2,000 square foot ranch and a 4,000 square foot new build with the same frontage can differ by a hundred feet of roofline.
Out toward Pear Tree Point and Long Neck Point the pattern shifts to shingle-style houses with deep eaves, wide porches, and a lot of trim worth picking out. Tokeneke is its own case, with wooded lots and houses set back off winding roads, where the approach does as much work as the roofline.
Wind off the Sound
Anything from Pear Tree Point out to Long Neck Point takes weather the rest of town does not. Steady wind through December, salt in the air, and nor’easters that arrive without much warning. Retail strands and light duty clips do not survive that, which is a large part of why we supply the product instead of hanging what you bought.
If wind does pull a section loose, that is a service call and it is included. You text us, we come re-hang it, and there is no charge.

Design visit

Most homes are installed the same week as the design visit. Commercial-grade LED, hidden clips, timers set, and everything tested at dusk before we pull out of the driveway.
Lit all season
Anything goes dark, text us and we fix it, no charge. In January it all comes down and goes to our shop, labeled, until next year. Nothing in your garage.

Darien questions
My house was rebuilt and has a lot of peaks. Does that cost more?
Yes, because it is more roofline and more time on a ladder, and that is exactly the house that looks best lit. We measure every eave, gable, and dormer at the design visit so the number you get already accounts for it. No adjustment later.
We are right on the water. Will the lights hold up?
We use commercial-grade product rather than retail strands, which is the main reason ours holds up better than what you would buy yourself. Exposure comes up at the design visit so the elevations that actually catch the wind get accounted for. If something does come loose, that is a service call, we come re-hang it, and there is no charge.
Can you light just the front and leave the rest?
Yes, and most people do. The front roofline and the entry are what the street sees. You can add the trees or the walk in a later season without redesigning anything, because your measurements stay on file.
