What Greenwich houses need
Greenwich has more stone, slate, and copper than anywhere else we cover. Down in Belle Haven and along the water, Tudors, brick Georgians, and shingle-style houses were built with materials that are expensive to repair. That is the main reason we look at the actual roof in person at the design visit before committing to a plan for it, instead of quoting a house off a photo and working it out on install day.
Scale is the other constant. A house with 300 feet of roofline across three wings is a different project from a colonial front, and the number comes off what we measure rather than off the address. In Riverside and Old Greenwich the house usually sits close enough to the street that the roofline does nearly all the work, which means every corner, peak, and dormer is being read from thirty feet away. North of the Merritt it is the opposite problem.
Backcountry roads are genuinely dark
North of the Merritt there are no streetlights on most roads, and houses sit far enough back that headlights never reach them. That changes the design. On a tight lot the roofline does all the work. Up here, a lit roofline with a black lawn in front of it reads like a floating outline, so the trees along the drive and the entry are what actually make the house look finished.
It also means the run from the road to the house can be a few hundred feet. Power and timer placement get worked out at the design visit so there is no cord across your driveway.
How it goes
From your call
to lights on.
No packages and no waiting weeks for a quote. You see the design on your own house before we hang a bulb.
Design visit
We come out to Greenwich, usually within a day or two of your call, and design it on the iPad on a photo of your house. You see the roofline lit, pick the colors, and get one flat price. You go on the schedule right then.
Installed that week
Most homes are installed the same week as the design visit. Commercial-grade LED, hidden clips, timers set, and everything tested at dusk before we pull out of the driveway.
Lit all season
Anything goes dark, text us and we fix it, no charge. In January it all comes down and goes to our shop, labeled, until next year. Nothing in your garage.
What it costs in Greenwich
Pricing does not change by town. Most homes land between $800 and $3,500 for the season, and the number comes from how much roofline you have, how tall the house is, and how many trees and entry pieces you want lit. Every quote is one flat, all-in price covering design, installation, service all season, takedown in January, and storage.
See the full pricing breakdown for ranges by house size, or send your address and we will come out and give you an exact number.
Greenwich questions
We have a slate or tile roof. What happens?
We look at it in person at the design visit before you agree to anything. Slate, tile, and copper are expensive to repair and not something to guess at from a photo. Nothing we install is screwed, stapled, or nailed. If your roof turns out to be one we should not be working on, we will say so and show you what the house looks like with the trees, the entry, and the walk lit instead.
Do you work in the backcountry and on gated properties?
Yes. Tell us at the design visit how you want us to get in, whether that is a code, a call to the house, or coordinating with your property manager or estate manager. Long driveways and multi acre lots are normal for us up there.
Can you light the driveway and the trees, not just the roof?
On a large lot that is usually the right call. A roofline by itself can look like it is floating when there is nothing lit between the road and the house. Wrapped trees along the drive, lit entry columns, and the walk pull the whole property together.
How early should I book in Greenwich?
Earlier than you think. Greenwich books up first every season across the whole industry, and the largest properties take the most crew time, so they go on the calendar first. September is the comfortable time to call.
