What Westport houses need
Westport has more contemporary architecture than the towns around it. Low slope roofs, big glass, cedar siding, and 1960s and 70s designs, a lot of them through Coleytown and the interior lots, that never had a clean eave line to work from. Those houses light beautifully when the design starts from what the house is instead of forcing a colonial outline onto it.
The newer modern farmhouse builds are the other end. Steep gables, black windows, standing seam metal accents, and a lot of vertical trim. Warm white against black trim and dark siding is one of the strongest looks we do, and it needs almost nothing beyond the roofline to work. Around Old Hill and Greens Farms you get antique houses and longer frontages instead, where the mature trees out front are often the best thing on the property to light.
Contemporary houses and the beach streets
If your house is one of the low slope contemporaries, tell us on the phone. The design visit goes differently: we are looking at fascia lines, the entry, deck and rail lines, and the trees, rather than measuring a gable.
Down at Compo the constraint is weather, not architecture. Houses that close to the water take wind all season, so exposure is part of the conversation at the design visit rather than something anyone discovers in December. Anything that does come loose is a service call at no charge.
How it goes
From your call
to lights on.
No packages and no waiting weeks for a quote. You see the design on your own house before we hang a bulb.
Design visit
We come out to Westport, usually within a day or two of your call, and design it on the iPad on a photo of your house. You see the roofline lit, pick the colors, and get one flat price. You go on the schedule right then.
Installed that week
Most homes are installed the same week as the design visit. Commercial-grade LED, hidden clips, timers set, and everything tested at dusk before we pull out of the driveway.
Lit all season
Anything goes dark, text us and we fix it, no charge. In January it all comes down and goes to our shop, labeled, until next year. Nothing in your garage.
What it costs in Westport
Pricing does not change by town. Most homes land between $800 and $3,500 for the season, and the number comes from how much roofline you have, how tall the house is, and how many trees and entry pieces you want lit. Every quote is one flat, all-in price covering design, installation, service all season, takedown in January, and storage.
See the full pricing breakdown for ranges by house size, or send your address and we will come out and give you an exact number.
Westport questions
My house is a 1970s contemporary with no real roofline. Now what?
We light the fascia lines the house does have, the entry, deck and rail lines, and the trees out front. It is a design conversation rather than a measurement, and it is worth doing on a photo of your actual house so you can see it before you commit.
We are a block from Compo Beach. Is wind a problem?
It is a design input, not a problem. We use commercial-grade product rather than retail strands, and the exposed elevations get talked through at the design visit. If a section pulls loose in a storm, text us and we come re-hang it at no charge.
Can you match warm white to our black trim and windows?
That is the combination we would push you toward anyway. Warm white against black trim and dark siding gives you the most contrast from the street. You pick the color at the design visit and see it on your own house first.
